Driving While Suspended
Our Kansas City driving while suspended lawyer is here to assist if your license has been revoked or suspended and you have been issued a driving while suspended (“DWS”) or driving while revoked (“DWR”) ticket in the Kansas City area. There are very severe consequences associated with receiving a Driving While Suspended (“DWS”) or Driving While Revoked (“DWR”) traffic ticket. In addition to large fines, jail time and further license suspensions are possible.
In Kansas, a DWS/DWR conviction carries a mandatory minimum jail sentence of 5 days, and your license can be suspended for an additional 90 days or more. Kansas does not have a hardship privilege or limited drivers license available in such instances.
In Missouri, the DOR will suspend your license for 12 months. You can also be incarcerated if you are convicted of DWS/DWR. We are also here to help you with reinstatement of your driver’s license, and can also help clients with obtaining hardship licenses, set-asides, and other options allowing you to drive.
Our Kansas and Missouri traffic lawyers have over 20 years experience, and represent clients with their driving while suspended charges, helping clients stay out of jail, keep their license, or obtain reinstatement of their license. In most cases, we are successful in getting clients’ driving while suspended charges amended, reduced, or dismissed so that it does not further affect their driving record.
If you have received a driving while suspended in Kansas or Missouri because of an excessive points violations or moving violations, failure to appear on a previous charge, resulting from a DUI/DWI, or from other various issues, contact the traffic and driving while suspended lawyers at KCticketlaw for our assistance. If you have received a DWS or DWR in Missouri or Kansas, contact our Kansas City traffic ticket attorneys today!

How to Hire us on your Driving While Suspended Charges
Our criminal defense and traffic attorneys have assisted hundreds clients with addressing their driving while suspended and revoked charges amended, reduced, or dismissed throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area, and are licensed to practice in Missouri and Kansas.
Why to hire a lawyer for your DWS charges
Driving While Suspended or Driving While Revoked Charges can seriously affect your insurance rates, your employment, and potentially even your privilege to drive. We recognize that your time is valuable, and do our best to handle your case in a cost effective and expedient manner.
For us to address your driving while suspended or driving while revoked charges, it is necessary for us (or you) to obtain a copy of your driving record (we can also do this for you at an hourly rate) to show us the status of your license. This is necessary so that we can determine the best course of action to address your specific case, the cause of your suspension, and if possible, the best way to obtain a reinstatement of your driver’s license, keep you out of jail, and ensure that your fines and court costs are as low as possible.
Because every circuit court, district court, and municipal court in the Kansas City utilizes different procedures (including their applicable fines, court costs, as well as their willingness to enter into plea agreements or diversions), we will need to obtain additional information about your specific traffic ticket.

Our speeding ticket and traffic law lawyers will then discuss with you or will email you back regarding: (1) the amount of our attorney fees; (2) our estimate of the price for amending or obtaining a diversion regarding your speeding or traffic ticket(s). The fine amounts, court costs, and attorney fees vary based on the individual jurisdiction, the severity of the charge, your driving record, and various other factors.
Once we agree on representation, we have a variety of payment options. You can pay via credit card (either over the phone or via link that we will email you) or cash (in person only). For most speeding tickets, we request that you make an up front payment of our attorney fee and the estimated costs of the fine amount and court costs, and we will then make pay to the court on your behalf once your ticket has been amended without you ever needing to appear in court (in most cases).
To set up a consultation or get a quote, please contact us via our Free Estimate Form, via email, or by calling our office at (816) 229-2708.
We Represent You
My office will then confirm our engagement regarding your case, and will provide you with a receipt for your payment to our office.
We will then enter our appearance on your case, and represent you. We will then work with the Prosecutor, Court, or Clerk to arrange a plea, diversion, reduction in charges, or other agreement with the goal that your charges are amended or reduced to a nonmoving violation such as “Illegal Parking,” “Defective Equipment,” or another similar charge. Other times on more serious speeds or tickets, we are able to negotiate a “diversion” or “suspended imposition of sentence” on your behalf, and as long as you follow certain conditions, the ticket will also stay off your driving record.
When this process has been completed, we will notify you of your case’s disposition and will include a receipt from the Court and next steps, if any.
