Kansas City Traffic Lawyer
Why you should amend a speeding ticket. Speeding and traffic tickets are considered a moving violation or points violation in Kansas and Missouri. These can typically be kept off of your driving record if you hire us to negotiate a plea bargain with the court to have your speeding ticket reduced to a non-moving violation, such as “Illegal Parking,” “Defective Equipment,” or another similar charge. Other times, we are able to negotiate a “diversion” or “suspended imposition of sentence” on your behalf, and as long as you follow certain conditions, the ticket will also stay off your driving record. If your ticket is reduced to a non-moving violation, the ticket will not be reported to the Department of Revenue, and no points or moving violations will be added to your driving record.

Why hire a traffic lawyer?
You should hire an experienced Kansas City traffic attorney, as traffic violations are a very serious matter that can involve significant fines, increases to your car insurance rates, and in certain cases, include jail time and a permanent criminal record. Being charged with a moving violation causes a driver to accumulate harmful points or moving violations against their record. When too many points or moving violations accumulate, drivers face the possible suspension of revocation of their driver’s license. Our Kansas City traffic lawyer works to have these types of tickets amended from point-incurring moving violations to non-moving violations that do not involve harmful points or threaten a person’s driving privilege.

License Implications
In Missouri, if you are guilty of speeding or many of the various traffic offenses above, you will incur “points” against your license. The Missouri Department of Revenue’s MODOR Website provides an overview of the points system for various tickets.
Kansas is a “moving violation” state, which means that if you receive 3 moving violations in a year, your license will be suspended. It also has a “habitual violator” statute that provides much harsher penalties for serious traffic offenses.
In additon to points or moving violations being added to your license, failure to pay your fine in a timely manner, or failure to appear at court for traffic offenses will oftentimes result in the issuance of an arrest warrant.

How to Hire us on your Traffic ticket
Our traffic ticket and speeding ticket attorneys have assisted hundreds clients with getting their traffic law violations and speeding tickets amended, reduced, or dismissed throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area, and are licensed to practice in Missouri and Kansas.
Why to hire a speeding ticket lawyer
Speeding tickets and traffic tickets can seriously affect your insurance rates, your employment, and potentially even your privilege to drive. We recognize that your time is valuable, and do our best to handle your case in a cost effective and expedient manner.
For most speeding tickets, we can represent you without you ever needing to appear in court. For more serious speeding tickets, such as those involving charges of an excessive speed, careless & imprudent driving, school zones, construction zones, or other aggravating circumstances, you may need to appear in court along with your traffic ticket lawyer.
Because every circuit court, district court, and municipal court in the Kansas City utilizes different procedures (including their applicable fines, court costs, as well as their willingness to enter into plea agreements or diversions), we will need to obtain additional information about your specific traffic ticket.

Our speeding ticket and traffic law lawyers will then discuss with you or will email you back regarding: (1) the amount of our attorney fees; (2) our estimate of the price for amending or obtaining a diversion regarding your speeding or traffic ticket(s). The fine amounts, court costs, and attorney fees vary based on the individual jurisdiction, the severity of the charge, your driving record, and various other factors.
Once we agree on representation, we have a variety of payment options. You can pay via credit card (either over the phone or via link that we will email you) or cash (in person only). For most speeding tickets, we request that you make an up front payment of our attorney fee and the estimated costs of the fine amount and court costs, and we will then make pay to the court on your behalf once your ticket has been amended without you ever needing to appear in court (in most cases).
To set up a consultation or get a quote, please contact us via our Free Estimate Form, via email, or by calling our office at (816) 229-2708.
We Represent You
My office will then confirm our engagement regarding your case, and will provide you with a receipt for your payment to our office.
We will then enter our appearance on your case, and represent you. We will then work with the Prosecutor, Court, or Clerk to arrange a plea, diversion, reduction in charges, or other agreement with the goal that your charges are amended or reduced to a nonmoving violation such as “Illegal Parking,” “Defective Equipment,” or another similar charge. Other times on more serious speeds or tickets, we are able to negotiate a “diversion” or “suspended imposition of sentence” on your behalf, and as long as you follow certain conditions, the ticket will also stay off your driving record.
When this process has been completed, we will notify you of your case’s disposition and will include a receipt from the Court and next steps, if any.
